We will be booking self-guided retreats providing a curriculum, reading material,

and an outline to follow to help you structure your time and reading.

Or you can come and retreat on your own following your own plan.

Soul Care Retreat (Curriculum Directed)

As we face challenges in life we often need some guidance to help us along the journey. We have found that stepping out of the everyday busy-ness of life, for the specific purpose of working through life's challenges, there is a clarity that comes Inthestillness.

After years of work as a  professional counsellor / spiritual director, educator, Dr. Ken Neilson has put together a curriculum addressing a number of different areas that people find challenging. Your curriculum directed retreat will include an outline to follow, and provide you with reading material, times of guided reflection, homework to complete on your own. You'll also enjoy unstructured time to hike the trails or explore the nearby shores.

  • Lots of unstructured time to rest and enjoy God's creation.

Dr. Ken Neilson


Dr Ken Neilson is a professional counsellor/educator who has worked in the counselling/education field since 1980. He has been in private practice for many years counselling and helping people. His teaching experience includes teaching and speaking in the areas of Counselling, Psychology, Marriage & Family, Sociology and Spiritual Formation, for college students, pastors, and lay people both in Canada, the USA and in Africa.


His Education:

  • Doctor of Ministry Degree in Practical Theology from Acadia Divinity College in Wolfville, NS

  • Master of Arts Degree in Family Counselling (Counselling and Family Psychology) from the School of Graduate Studies, Eastern Nazarene College Quincy, Massachusetts

  • Bachelor of Arts Degree (Psychology, Philosophy) from the University of Manitoba

  • Bachelor of Sacred Literature Degree (Theology and Liberal Arts) from Canadian Nazarene College

  • One year of advanced postgraduate research studies in Spiritual Formation from University of Manchester in England and Nazarene Theological College.


His Professional Designations:

  • Licensed Counselling Therapist with the College of Counselling Therapists of NB

  • Certified Canadian Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association 

  • Ordained Deacon
