Being trained in psychology as well as theology, Ken integrates these two areas of study into the counselling experience as suited to the clients needs and wishes.

Individual Counselling Retreat 

 

*2 nights / 4hrs counsel: $660 + tx

*1 week / 8 hrs counsel: $1580 + tx

 

As we face challenges in life we need to talk. We also need someone to listen. This is a place where you can talk, and we will listen to understand.

 

As a professional counsellor / spiritual director, Dr. Ken Neilson will meet with you over the course of your stay, and you'll be given assignments or exercises to complete. Your guided retreat will include times of meeting together, times of guided reflection, homework to complete on your own, and unstructured time to enjoy hiking the trails or exploring the nearby shores. 

 

Includes:

  • *2 - 7 nights accommodation in our guest cottage

  • Welcome, Introduction and Q&A time with Ken & Fay

  • *4 - 8 hours professional counselling therapy / spiritual direction (depending on length of retreat)

  • Directed studies and guided reflections

  • Wonderful mid-morning coffee

  • A map of the area and suggestions for leisure fun

  • Access to our coffee shop / library (books on marriage, family & spirituality

  • Access to all our hiking trails and outdoor chapel

  • Lots of unstructured time to rest and enjoy God's creation.

 

*length of retreat & number of counselling hours can be adjusted to your preference.

*We do not direct bill any EAP companies for counselling , but will provide you with a receipt so you can seek reimbursement from your extended health and benefits plan for those companies covering Licensed Counselling Therapists. 

 

*If costs are prohibitive for you, please speak with us when you book.  Financial help may be available through our Scholarship Fund.

 

Who is Your Counsellor?

 

Dr Ken Neilson is a professional counsellor/educator who has worked in the counselling/education field since 1980. He has been in private practice for many years counselling and helping people. His teaching experience includes teaching and speaking in the areas of Counselling, Psychology, Marriage & Family, Sociology and Spiritual Formation, for college students, pastors, and lay people both in Canada, the USA and in Africa.

 

His Education:

  • Doctor of Ministry Degree in Practical Theology from Acadia Divinity College in Wolfville, NS

  • Master of Arts Degree in Family Counselling (Counselling and Family Psychology) from the School of Graduate Studies, Eastern Nazarene College Quincy, Massachusetts

  • Bachelor of Arts Degree (Psychology, Philosophy) from the University of Manitoba

  • Bachelor of Sacred Literature Degree (Theology and Liberal Arts) from Canadian Nazarene College

  • One year of advanced postgraduate research studies in Spiritual Formation from University of Manchester in England and Nazarene Theological College.
